On March 16, 2023, China's Certification and Accreditation Administration (CNCA) issued Notice No. 10 of 2023 titled “The State Administration for Market Regulation announced the implementation of mandatory certification for lithium-ion batteries and other products”. The notice communicates new regulations coming into effect from August 1, 2023. From this date, accredited certification bodies will begin accepting CCC applications for certain product categories, newly added to the list requiring this certification.
The newly included product categories within the scope of CCC certification are:
- Mobile power supplies
- Power adapters or chargers for telecommunications terminals
- Lithium-ion batteries and battery packs for portable electronic devices.
Starting from August 1, 2024, any product falling within these categories that does not carry a CCC certification will not be authorized for sales or importation.
Furthermore, lithium-ion batteries and battery packs used in electronic and electrical products will be subject to an updated testing standard known as GB 31241-2022 once it comes into force.
